Mikael Lundin

I’ve worked at the company since the early 2000s. In 2008, I started a PhD where I tested different methods to be able to fish selectively by size using pontoon traps. I have conducted a number of behavioural studies on fish and seals, which have often involved the use of underwater cameras.

“Size-selection of fish in the trap fisheries of the Baltic and Bothnian Seas”
I completed my doctoral thesis in 2014. Its title is “Size-selection of fish in the trap fisheries of the Baltic and Bothnian Seas”, and it includes six papers, five of which have been published in Fisheries Research. These focus on size selection, behaviour and survival rates of various fish species in commercial fishing traps. It also includes a theoretical calculation of possible effects on the herring population after a size-selective catch.
